NXLED and Farm Fresh, two of the teams that benefitted the most in the wild pre-season free agent-recruiting spree, get to display their newfound acquisitions as they collide on Tuesday in the PVL All-Filipino Conference at the FilOil Arena.
The Chameleons, who practically absorbed the bulk of the on-leave Petro Gazz team that ruled this same conference and the Reinforced last year headed by Brooke Van Sickle, battle the Foxies, who also had their shares of prized acquisitions, at 4 p.m.
Aside from Ms. Van Sickle, other popular former Angels who jumped ship were MJ Phillips, Myla Pablo, Jonah Sabete, Jules Tolentino and Bang Pineda among others.
Two more key additions for the fledgling franchise were Aby Maraño from the defunct Chery Tiggo and Aduke Ogunsanya from Choco Mucho.
They joined a team that already has EJ Laure, Chiara Permentilla and Krich Macaslang.
The only problem Nxled coach Ettore Guidetti faces right now is how he would utilize his loaded squad that has a whopping total of 27 players in its fold.
“It’s a pleasant problem that I’m sure we’ll solve,” said the Italian strategist.
For Farm Fresh, it did not only pick big names like Mylene Paat and Ara Galang from Chery Tiggo, Royse Tubino from Choco Mucho and Remy Palma from Petro Gazz but also netted a championship-tested coach in Japanese Koji Tsuzurabara, who steered the Angels to the AFC crown a season back.
Also expected to make a big splash to open up their respective campaigns are ZUS Coffee and Capital1, which tackle each other at 6:30 p.m. — Joey Villar
